    Properties of Woolpower clothing

Woolpower is a unique brand, but why then, you wonder. The clothing keeps you wonderfully warm during any outdoor activity. Woolpower sets high standards for quality, durability and use. And they guarantee this by giving the clothing various features. You can read all about it here.

    Merino wool and synthetic fibres

Woolpower uses the finest merino wool, combined with synthetic fibres. These fibres provide extra reinforcement so that the fit remains optimal and the fabric is less likely to be damaged by friction.

The merino wool comes from the merino sheep that graze in the Argentine part of Patagonia and Uruguay. Woolpower constantly checks that the sheep have good pastures and are treated well by the farmers. The wool is bought directly from these farmers. These farmers, unlike Australian farmers, can guarantee mulesing-free wool.

    Warm and dry with Woolpower

The merino wool ensures that your sweat is well-drained and heat stays close to your body. Even in humid conditions, you stay well warm. Merino wool is also known for not absorbing unpleasant body odours but neutralising them, so you can wear your clothes for days on treks.

So there is no need to wash the clothes. In fact, Woolpower recommends that you just air it out. As odours are not absorbed into the fibres, it is self-cleaning. If you still want to wash the clothes, you can do so with special wool detergent.
You can then even wash the clothes at 60℃. This is because the wool is first treated in the ‘superwash’, creating a pre-shrinkage.

    A stable and unisex collection

The collection is a stable one. Woolpower focuses mainly on functionality and durability rather than fashion-sensitive trends. This means that 90% of the collection always remains the same. Handy anyway, if you want to buy the same item again after a while because you are so satisfied!

About 95% of the collection is unisex. This means that an item can be worn by both men and women. For example, the Long John. Note! Ladies do need to wear one size smaller. If you normally wear an M, choose an S.

A layer for every type of weather

The collection is structured from thin to thick. There is the base layer (LITE and 200) and the midlayers (400 and 600). LITE-clothing is flat-woven and the wool is combined with synthetic fibres. As a result, the clothes hardly wear out. The 200, 400, 600 and 800-collection is made with loops on the inside of the clothing. By using these ‘terry loops’, extra air is retained and moisture can be transported to the outside of the garment. In other words; you are optimally protected.

For optimal comfort and fit, the 200, 400 and 600 garments are seamlessly round-knitted in special knitting machines. The clothes therefore move smoothly with every movement you make.

    • LITE: This clothing belongs to the base layer and is good for summer, active pursuits or people who are not easily cold. For example, the Tee LITE.
    • 200: This clothing also belongs to the base layer, but keeps you a bit warmer and is good for people who stand still (e.g. at football matches), people who alternate standing and moving (e.g. at the market, construction workers) or for people who get cold easily. An example is the Tee 200.
    • 400 and 600: These are intermediate layers and use as a vest or jumper. You can combine these perfectly with a base layer. An example is the Full Zip Jacket.
    • 800: This thickness only occurs with socks. The Woolpower Socks 800 is a good example of this. Be sure to choose a shoe size larger for 800 socks, as the socks are very thickly knitted.

    Pilling? That’s normal.

Woolpower garments may start to show small bulges after a while. This is quite normal for wool products. So it does not mean that your clothes will wear out. Functionality is still guaranteed.
The reason why you see the pilling so well with Woolpower is because the merino beads stick to the synthetic fibre, so to speak.

    Not tape work, but craftsmanship

Each product is completely sewn together by one person. The employee himself goes from machine to machine and in this way assembles the entire garment himself. So there is no belt work.

A fun fact: this person signs the piece by sewing in a label with their own name. Then, as a user, you can look up who made your garment on Woolpower’s site: https://woolpower.se/en/contact/coworkers/#seamstresses

    Did you know that…?

… even divers like to use Woolpower under their diving suits? This is how they create extra warmth.

… Woolpower not only has an outdoor collection, but also a collection for the military, police and fire brigade, made of fire-resistant material? This has already proved useful in the construction industry too.

… you too can buy fire-resistant clothing from Woolpower? This is the Protection collection. The clothing also works anti-static and protects in case of electric arc. Three crucial features that ensure a person’s safety.

Protection features are added to the clothing by adding extra fibres:

    • The LITE version includes lenzing and beltron.
    • The 400 version protection includes aramid and beltron.
