Woolpower uses the finest merino wool. This is combined with synthetic fibres, making the clothes extra sturdy and less prone to damage from friction. Merino wool ensures fast moisture removal while retaining warmth. Did you know that this means Woolpower clothing does not need to be washed often? The wool is self-cleaning. If you still want to wash the clothes, you can do so at 60℃. Read more advantages of Woolpower clothing in our blog.
Woolpower uses only mulesing-free wool. They want to be sure the sheep are treated well. For example, they do not buy wool from Australia, where mulesing is still common. Mulesing is a painful process for the sheep that is carried out to prevent fly infestations. Since Australian wool farmers cannot guarantee 100% mulesing-free merino wool, they decided to shift sourcing to the Argentine part of Patagonia and Uruguay, where the fly in question does not exist.
Each garment is made by one and the same person. The employee himself goes from machine to machine and in this way assembles the entire garment himself. For the employee, this ensures variety in work and development on the complete craft. For the user, this provides an assurance of craftsmanship. This is because the employee also does her own quality control. Then each employee sews her own name label into the garment. You can see who made your garment here.
Woolpower is a Swedish company. In Östersond, all garments are made from merino wool, from yarn to finished product. Woolpower has existed since 1969 and at the time specialised in the production of nylon stockings.
In 1970, the company partnered with the Swedish army, through which they started developing and producing merino thermal underwear. To this day, the Swedish army frequently uses Woolpower clothing, as do the armies of France and Germany. Meanwhile, they use the fire-retardant and anti-static Protection collection.
